LSU offers Thibodaux's Amik Robertson and it 'was shocking'

Sensational Thibodaux prospect Amik Robertson reeled in a major offer on Friday, when LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond arrived on campus with an offer in hand.
"It was shocking," Robertson said. "I told Coach (Corey) Raymond that I wasn't expecting an offer. I was expecting talks similar to what we've been having about being patient. He said they wanted to offer me a full scholarship to LSU and join DBU. It's like everything paused and the world stopped.
"LSU will always be my dream school. The Honey Badger is a role model for me, but I don't want to rush anything. I want to take my visits, see where my best opportunity is, and go from there."
Robertson's seemingly simple official visit schedule only featured Louisiana Tech just over a month ago, but things quickly changed.
Robertson is scheduled to visit Louisiana Tech this weekend, which he still intends to take, and is scheduling an official visit with Oklahoma State on January 20, before heading to Houston on January 27.
"I am going to have to speak with my family on where to go from here," he said. "I want to visit all three programs, but only have two weekends to do it. I understand that programs can do mid-week visits, but I don't want them to have to cram their schedule for that. I don't think that's right. I will sit with my family and discuss what would be the best options for me."
LSU already holds commitments from four defensive backs, two cornerbacks and two safeties, so getting Robertson on board may be contingent on laying out the plans for his development. Defensive backs coach Corey Raymond has already begun that process.
"He has been saying that I could play nickel, safety and get some work in the return game," Robertson said. "A similar role to the Honey Badger to be honest. Nothing is given, everything is earned. If LSU ends up being my decision, I'm looking forward to competing and earning it. None of that stuff really matters to me. I feel like I'm the best and it will all show in time."
